Color is the first signal
Ruby value is strongly influenced by color. Vivid red stones with good brightness usually attract stronger demand than stones that appear too dark, too pink, or too brown.
Clarity should be judged realistically
Natural rubies commonly contain inclusions. The key question is whether inclusions reduce beauty, durability, or transparency. Eye-clean stones are rarer and usually more expensive.
Treatment disclosure matters
Heat treatment is common in ruby, while filled or heavily treated stones need clearer explanation and different pricing. Always ask the seller what treatment information is known.
